South Africa 2025 In January 2025, the Roundtable conducts a tourism value chain focussed assessment in South Africa, titled Tourism Impact Assessment in South Africa. Consultations on Social Impacts in Cape Town, Johannesburg and Greater Kruger Areas.This joint project, with support from various tour operators and civil society organisations, will focus on mid-range group travel products in Cape Town, Johannesburg and Greater Kruger areas. On-site consultations are set for mid-January, with results to be presented at ITB 2025. The aim of the project is to apply a multi-stakeholder approach and to develop and implement an action plan for meaningful and practical follow-up measures for tour operators. The step-by-step online guidance for tourism businesses is revised and updated with the experiences from this assessment. Find more info Thailand & Myanmar 2019 In September 2019, the Roundtable conducted a tourism value chain focussed Human Rights Impact Assessment in Thailand and Myanmar. Various Roundtable members supported this assessment with their expertise, financial contributions and local networks. The methods, instruments and steps relevant for the conduction of a HRIA are explained in the report, as well as in a free online step-by-step guidance that was developed for tour operators and is part of the "Get Started Tool". The development of the implementation guidelines was supported by Swiss Federal Department for Foreign Affairs (FDFA), and Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Coorperation and Development (BMZ).
