Preventing Illegal Wildlife Trade Guidelines for the Travel & Tourism sector on the integration of the WTTC Declaration on Illegal Wildlife Trade and Zero Tolerance Policy While Travel & Tourism businesses are generally supportive of actions that seek to protect animal and plant species threatened with extinction, the connection and applicability of such actions to the sector are often not immediately evident. This may explain why not all Travel & Tourism businesses recognise IWT to be an issue for the sector, and fewer still incorporate preventative measures into their sustainable tourism policies and priorities. This document seeks to provide the Travel & Tourism sector with additional guidance on how to best address IWT. It not only aims to help interpret the 12 Commitments of the WTTC Buenos Aires Declaration and the related IWT Zero Tolerance Policy, but also to demonstrate how it applies to the different business types within the sector. Specifically: what to look for, what to avoid, and how to engage customers and supplier.
