Webinar Blueprint Social Value Chain Assessment 2019

Two Webinars: How can tour operators assess human rights impacts in their value chains?
The Roundtable Human Rights in Tourism shares its tools and experiences from Thailand and Myanmar

Wednesday 28 August, 2019 from 10:00 – 11:00 am CET &
Wednesday 2 October, 2019 from 10:00 – 11:00 am CET

The Roundtable Human Rights in Tourism organises two webinars to involve interested Roundtable members and other stakeholders in the process of planning and conducting an exemplary human rights impact assessment (HRIA) which it is conducting in Thailand and Myanmar in September 2019.
On behalf of the Roundtable, focusright prepares and conducts this exemplary HRIA together with Roundtable members to develop and implement an action plan for follow-up measures based on the impacts identified.

The goal of the project is to develop a general methodology and a concrete, practicable and transferable online tool for Roundtable members and other small and medium sized tour operators to conduct HRIAs independently. The interactive “blueprint” tool will be integrated in the “get started” tool on the Roundtable’s website.

Content:
Short presentation of a step-by-step guidance through the process of a destination specific impact assessment for tour operators, with the aim to answer the following questions:

  • How to conduct a value-chain based social impact assessment in a tourism destination?
  • How to assess potential and actual human rights-related impacts of business activities in a selected tourism destination?
  • How to develop and implement an action plan with follow-up measures based on the human rights impacts identified?

The first webinar will take place before actual on-site assessment in Thailand and Myanmar. The participants will receive up-to date information on how to prepare such an assessment and can ask questions and provide feedback on the methodology.

During the second webinar the first findings from the on-site assessment will be shared and discussed. A focus will be on the analysis of the information and on the development of follow-up measures to address the issues identified.

We recommend the participation in both webinars, since the content builds up on each other.
