On Wednesday, 6th March from 15:00 to 16:00 the Roundtable hosted the panel talk "Human Rights in practice – Working Conditions in Tourism" on the big stage in hall 4.1: Tourism’s extensive international supply chain, high dependency on seasonality, day and night service supply and a high share of outsourced temporary staff, present challenges in the respect of labour rights. How can tour operators create decent and fair working conditions, and how can challenges be addressed? Myriam Barros (President "Las Kellys", Spain), Susana Ceron Baumann (CSR Manager, VENTURA Travel, Germany), Madhu Rajesh (Director, International Tourism Partnership, UK) and Sibylle Baumgartner (Co-Founder, focusright, Switzerland) discussed the challenges and opportunities for tour operators and the hotel industry to ensure fair working conditions. During the panel, Sibylle Baumgartner also presented the newly developed Online Get Started Tool of the Roundtable Human Rights in Tourism. The panel was moderated by Antje Monshausen (Chairwoman, Roundtable Human Rights in Tourisms; Head, Tourism Watch - Bread for the World, Germany). Around 90 participants followed the discussion. Read also an article about the second TO DO Human Rights Award (our panelist Myriam Barros was the winner of this year's award).
