Founded in 1964 by the International Labour Organization and the Government of Italy, the Centre’s mission is to achieve decent work for all women and men.Gender-based violence violates fundamental human rights as established in the 1948 UN Universal Declaration of Human Rights. These fundamental rights further elaborated by the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights and the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights, adopted by the UN General Assembly on 16 December 1966.
