Website

Whether supplier, retailer or production company: global supply and value chains also form part of the core business operations of German SMEs. But how can you find out the conditions under which raw materials were mined? Or how things stand with regard to issues such as environmental protection or chemicals management - especially in lower tiers of the supply chain in developing countries? Using this free online tool, you can better understand social and environmental risks along your supply chain and fulfil your corporate due diligence responsibilities. The tool supports companies that wish to pay more attention to environmental aspects and human rights in a concrete and practical way. This makes it easier to take targeted measures and comply with due diligence obligations. Moreover, the tool supports companies in establishing a robust management system. The free information portal offers practical help, specific instructions and tips, especially for small and medium-sized enterprises. The "Due Diligence Compass" is part of the SME Compass. It guides companies step by step towards greater sustainability and robust supply chains. The information portal is aimed specifically at SMEs – business chambers, associations and companies were involved in its development. The content of the SME Compass is based on the German National Action Plan on Business and Human Rights (NAP), the United Nations Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights and the OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises.
